Actually it is a very cheap which would explain people doing this as a common swap. The SR20 is a smaller block and fits in easily. Shouldn't cost more than $4000.00 to do this swap right. -Nick |

Sorry but i dont think that it would be that easy. and it sure as hell dont take 4k to do a complete swap, besides why spend 4k when you could buy a turbo kit for the altima for 3k

Keep in mind, as much as a KA turbo will make more power, it will cost a lot more than 3 grand. You need to consider how many miles are on the motor and what needs to be changed on the inside. Those internals are not for a turbo. The SR20DET is designed for a turbo since the factory would not go make a motor for a turbo and leave junky internals. These motors are built to handle the turbo. For cheap speed this is the best swap rather than turbo'ing a KA which might need a rebuild and proper fuel system. And on an Altima or 240, it is only about 4k to do a proper motor swap. Call around to some speed shops. Frankenstein honda swaps only cost 4-10 grand depending on the swap. the K series engine in a new civic being the most expensive of swaps. You should really do some research if you plan to turbo your Altima. -Good Luck |

Im not planing on turbo mine, but I do know about turboing a KA.. the sr20det will not fit in the Altima, even though the 240 and the Altima has the KA in it from the factory it is not the same.. The sr20 conversion would be a lot more expensive than a turbo kit for the Altima. Sorry but I stick to what i know man. I know what works for the Altima and what doesnt and if the altima is a 97.5 to 01 then it would be really hard to put a turbo since the obd 2 ECU that nissan blessed us with cant ba hacked and it would be really hard to tune.

Re: Sr20det?
the bluebird never came out with the SR20DET as a front wheeler. i have never heard of anyone doing it, the pulsar we have here in australia come out with the SR20DE, so it would be a straight swap for the SR20DET. you guys are so lucky that you can even get kinda cheap parts for to turbo the KA24DE
lucky americans! whats the go with the later bluebirds? what engines do they have? i no nothing about them cause aussies never got the later ones. |
