Real experiences with retrieving ABS codes in a 1996
Looking for an answer on how to get codes from a 1996 with ABS. I have a Chiltons book for 82 to 93 that says short pins A and H on the ALDL connector and the brake light will flash codes. The ABS unit on a 93 looks like the one on my 96. Can I get codes this way or does it need a special scanner. I do want to screw up by shorting the pins to just try it.

1996 was first year that all Blazers require an OBD-II compliant scan tool to retrieve trouble codes.
