Ferrari 250 GTO Fujimi 1/24

I'm currently working at one of the nicest cars for me - 250 GTO. I had to use PE set for Revell because Hobby design PE set which is for Fujimi was not availible.

Most of the items from PE set are useless and it looks like Revell model is in larger scale. Luckilly rims diameter is good but I had to widen them for 2 mm to fit Fujimi tyres.

I have to make new meshes for all vents because these which were received with PE set are too large:

Chassis is comlete:

On few places there are small hinges which would get lost under clearcoate:

I decided to make small "T" shaped parts which will be painted separately:

Holes are for less drama during final assembly:

Even with few coats and spraying in different direction color wasn't the same on all panels on my previous model. So from now on I'm painting last layer of body color with partially assembled parts.

Interior is mostly done. Seatbelts are so so, at least I found suitable glue for fabric - Bison for textile. It bonds nicely and it is invisible on other side unlike the superglue.

Lower part of dashboard:

Instrument panel was done with inspiration from one Japanese modeler on YouTube.

Panel is cut in two parts and holes are drilled:

Decals are applied to separate part of styrene and clear part is cut:

Clear part is glued on part with holes, and on the top of that I glued part with decals and rear segment of instrument panel. I also made "chrome" rings from wire. All in all a lot of work on instrument panel for slightly better result in comparison to clearcoated instruments.

Edit: mods please move this thread to street section if more suitable.

Great start, will be following as I've wanted to get this kit for a while but keep putting it off as I already have the Gunze Hi-Tech in the stash. I'm betting the Fujimi kit is nicer all around.

Re: Ferrari 250 GTO Fujimi 1/24

Managed to complete the engine. As it usually is with old cars it's hard to find two same examples due to low number built and restorations. I the end I picked one and tried to replicate it.

There was a lot of opportunities to improve or make new pieces:

Fuel distribution:

Added small tube on heads for spark plug wires and made new tank for wiper fluid:

This part is completely new (one in prev. photo was also scratch but I messed it):

Carburetor links from brass wire and sheet:

Unfortunately black is dominant so I use every chance to bring some color:

Scratched part from earlier:

Installed panels:

Stiffner bar made using RB motion rod ends:

Carburetor links are installed, at the end I had to bend one to get proper fit:

Air stacks are from PE set, and the didn't fit because set is for Revell. Luckily on real car they are connected together so I grinded them:

Re: Ferrari 250 GTO Fujimi 1/24

I didn't know that there's a V12 engine with 6 2-barrel carburetors. I visited the Wiki website at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrar...mbo_engine#250 to learn about the engine.
