CCRM (Constant Control Relay Module) ???
Can anybody tell what EXACTLY the CCRM does. I am havin an AC problem. I'm 99% sure this is the problem and have directions on how to fix the solder point. I'm just afraid if I fry the damn thing trying to fix it, that I won't be able to use the car till I can get a new CCRM. I wanna know what this "Little Black Box" does. Thanks.

What kind of AC problem do you have? How do you know it is the CCRM? I do not know of any solder fix on them. Give us more details. MT

Re: CCRM (Constant Control Relay Module) ???
the ac just quit one day..has a good charge...No power to the compressor...also have jumped out the low pressure switch...i have done a reserch on AF and found some people with the same problem. I have also found out that it is a know problem with the Escort. There is a solder joint that goes bad and I have instructions on how to repair it that I got from a user on AF. If you want I will E-mail you the instuctions. I'm just afriad if i fry the module that I won't be able to use the car till I can locate the part. I know it's controls power to the AC commpresor and controls the wide open throttle for the AC. I'm just not sure what this thing controls.

Re: CCRM (Constant Control Relay Module) ???
I'm having an AC problem on a 1997 Escort (see my post) and I've decided to replace that CCRM. It's also called an ICRM (integrated circuit relay module).
It's a printed circuit board with several relays mounted on it, contained in a metal box; on my 1997 Escort it is mounted under the air filter housing. The air filter housing must be removed to see the CCRM. The relays in the CCRM control the engine cooling fan, the AC clutch, the fuel pump and at least one other component.....I'm not sure what the other one is. The Ford part number for my 1997 Escort is F6SF-12B577-AA. I found two on E-bay priced at about $40.00 including shipping, and I got one from the local salvage yard for $35.00. Good luck! Hope this helps...... |

If you mess it no problem no sweat they make new ones. I would say most ford dealers have one in stock. Or you could give them a call and have it for a back up if anything goes wrong. Let us know how it goes. And if you can post the fix on AF I am sure it might help someone else. Good luck MT

Hello Paul,
My name is Wilson and I consider myself a novice mechanic. I read your article on CCRM and I am interested in further details in soldering the WAC joint myself and save some $$$$$. |

Re: CCRM (Constant Control Relay Module) ???
I bypass the CCRM for a/c relay concerns-- merely find the the input and output wires (with a wiring diagram) and wire in an external relay- this relay is in parallel with the one inside the CCRM. Works great and costs only the price of the relay- about $4....
