2006 Nissan Altima

The door light on my car was hanging so when I close the door the light got smashed. My dome light will not work and I can not get the car out of park. I'm thinking a fuse blew or a open Circuit. I was wondering if anyone heard of anything like this or do I have a serious problem? All other lights seems to work just fine headlights dashboard lights etc. I'm just not sure if the gear shifter would have anything to do with a fuse or not. For now I'm able to shift the car manually

Re: 2006 Nissan Altima

It does sound likely that a fuse was blown when the door was closed on the hanging light. The reason you're unable to shift from Park is likely due to an issue with the Shift Interlock system, and if you're really lucky, it will be caused by the same fuse as the door light. It could also be coincidental timing any maybe your stoplight switch is faulty. You might want to make sure your brake lights work when you step on the brake pedal. If not, driving the car is not safe until you get the issue resolved.
