Hey P man, Whats it costing ya?

Hey mate, Iv got a whole lot of models sitting in my room, everything from Planes, Trucks, Tanks, Hummers jeeps etc. a 1:48 Herc C130 Sector and 1:32 Kenworth semi. (both are big!) as well as some 1:32 cars utes etc.

But I literaly havnt touched them in about 9years, and well reading this bloody forum has got my intrest in such things back.

I remember that it wasn't cheap to do this 10yrs ago, and as im on a limited budget, I was wondering what your spending on it?
How far does a spray can go? and what sort of prices are you paying for kits? and paints? etc.

The cost really is the only thing stopping me getting back into it.

You spend what you want to do a degree!
It costs me the absolute earth, as I like to buy photoetched detail for each kit, plus extras such as the Nismo exhaust for my R34.
I also spray each kit, which uses about half a can of spray per kit!
So each one probably costs me about £30-£50 tops!

You can do it cheap by building them out the box and using paints in a tin!
Spray the body though, which will require about half a can automotive spray plus primer, or a whole can of Tamiya spray!

BAh!!!! thats about $90-150 of our monoploy money!!!!!
The cost cant have gone up that much!
I think I use to spend about $25-40 on a good quality 1:72 plane kit.
So I can't see how cars could be that much more expensive.

Quality automotive paint is about $15-20 a can here, so that could be my biggest expense, especialy if your using 1/2 a can per car.

But I want to know what Primera man is spending, in NZ $

HEAPS !!!!

Tamiya cans about $13.50...will do about 3-4 model cars.
The new kit i just got was $60.00 for the CLK. Thats about the average price for a good tamiya one.
Revell kits about $30-50.
Then you have your paints/brushes etc.
The last few weeks it has cost me about $350.00 for kits(6 of them) and paints etc
