1995 neon catalytic inquiry
I recently bought a 1995 Dodge Neon and took it in for an etest(I live in Canada where they are manditory)and it failed miserably, the mechanic said my best bet would be get the biggest catalytic converter I could find.
So here is my question, could I run 2 normal catalytic converters in a row or would this cause too much restriction? and if I can will it lower my emissions enough to make me pass? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks |

I don't understand why you would need the biggest one you can find. A normal one is fine for California emissions, so it should be sufficient for Canada's.

Re: 1995 neon catalytic inquiry
It failed really badly, there are a few performance mods dragging it's emissions down pretty brutally, that's why I wanted to know the effect of running 2 of them in a row, I know some higher end vehicles have up to 6 cats but they are made for it, so could I run 2 cats, would 2 high flow cats work?

Even with every bolt on possible, a good healthy cat should be good. Your old one, is probably just messed up really really bad.

Well there is no catalytic at all, and it is more than just bolt on mods, there are internals, such as cam, pistons etc... I am really just curious if running 2 catalytics would do anything negative to the car or positive for emissions, thanks |

Re: 1995 neon catalytic inquiry
Well placing 2 cats on the car will be more restrictive, but I still think one is sufficient. If you are still putting 87-93 octane in your car, the emissions should pass rather easily.
