Coolant Warning
2003 Saturn Ion:
Cooling System was flushed at Saturn Dealer this past winter and tested for leaks. None found. Six months later "Coolant" warning now comes on (along with chime) shortly after starting vehicle. Temperature guage appears to be operating in normal range and fluid level in overflow chamber (when cold) is only 1/2" below recommended Full Level. Any thoughts? Could problem be a faulty sensor? If so where would I find it? Thanks! |

Re: Coolant Warning
Fyi, I reolaced mine in mine last month. I accidentally dropped the brand new tank on the grond and it bounced like a basketball. Unfortunately this must have damaged the sensor in the new tank. Note to self- measure the sensor terminals on the new empty tank before installing, right side up. Sensor should measure open. Then flip the tank upside down to simulate a 1/2 full tank for the sensor. Sensor should now indicase zero ohms. If you don't see that don't bother tearing apart the old tank until you know you have a good replacement tank ready to go.
