Smaller, lighter pistons. 12 x (V12 piston weight) < 6 x (V6 piston weight)
This means less receiprocating mass, which allows for higher rpms. It means less torque though. Think about motorcycle engines. The YZF-R1 engine is a 4 banger 1L engine, but makes more power than the VG30E. However, it would never come anywhere near the torque of the VG30E, because the only reason it makes so much power is because it makes it at 13,000 rpm (or so)

yeah it would...i got another page i want to scan out of my book. its about the R390 GT1 that nissan created for the Le Mans race in 1997, i think. they built a road car out of the same platform for a few enthusiasts...pretty cool. there is a couple more pages, i just may scan all of the nissan concept cars in the book.

Re: ULTIMATE ENGINE SWAP ver.2!!!

I have been wanting to get a 280z, a RB25DET would be really nice motor if i had alot of money, but, more practical a bow tie 350, with a custom twin turbo and a clean jet black paint with bronze gram lights wheels. soon, very soon

Re: ULTIMATE ENGINE SWAP ver.2!!!

I found it cheaper to keep it with the same manufacturer. Nissans with Nissan engines. I dont belive in intermixing of the manufacturers.

Re: ULTIMATE ENGINE SWAP ver.2!!!

Back on topic, how about a VQ35DET with the 2003/04 Murano AWD CVT transmission. Im sure you could get AWD going without TOO much work if you had an engine/tranny that supported it.
Swap cost:
probably about $10k but you'd have the best fucking z32 on the planet.

I agree... even though I allowed that choice in my poll I don't agree with it! And it's not just the domestic and import thing either! I hate when I see clean 30-ish Ford and it's got a damn Chevy engine in it! Bah!

VQ35DET? Not sure about that one, Mikey... unless you meant aftermarket turbo? FYI to all: STILLEN is actually developing a supercharger for the Murano/FX35... and rumor has it that GReddy is at their heels with a TT kit!!! What about the FX45 AWD??? No love for the bigger brother but I'm sure someone will notice! Is that a VQ45DE BTW?

i found 2 nissan v12's...

GRX-3 = 5954cc.....DOHC 12 cylinder, twin cam, 48 valve V12, MFI, dry sump....it was in the R382 and rated at 580hp!!!

GRX-3 KAI = the exact same motor except it produced 660hp in the R383 race car!!!

i thought i would share....

BTW: what was a nissan leopard??? it came with the vg30de or the vg30det....yes a single turbo VG30DE not Twin Turbo...
anybody got pictures of this car???

Yeah i meant aftermarket turbo slapped on.
The FX45 doesn't have the xtronic transmission though does it? Thats the only reason I suggested it, for the CVT transmission. If you just wanted AWD, throw the RB26DETT in.

Re: ULTIMATE ENGINE SWAP ver.2!!!

Y'know... now that you mention it I'm not so sure if the FX45 is AWD....
