Re: Vip's Celica All-Trac Project

I bought my 1992 All-Trac in January of 2006. I bought it with a blown engine and some rust. The car was completely stock and the interior was in great shape! I bought the All-Trac as an alternative to buying a turbo kit for my 2001 Celica GT-S.

January 8th 2006 - Day I picked the car up. Drove 12 hours one way.

Re: Vip's Celica All-Trac Project

January 12th 2006 - Started tearing down the engine to find out what's wrong with it. Found coolant in the cylinders and lots of rust.

Re: Vip's Celica All-Trac Project

February 2nd 2006 - Bought a used Greddy TD06L2-20G turbo kit. It was ugly, but it was in good mechanical shape!

Re: Vip's Celica All-Trac Project

April 16th 2006 - Cranked the car for the first time. I forgot a washer behind the timing belt tensioner, so the belt rode towards the inside of the pulleys causing it to wear. I installed a washer and replaced the timing belt. I also found out that the radiator fan did not work. This is probably the reason why the car had blown the head gasket to begin with. Replaced the radiator fan with an 11" SPAL fan.

Re: Vip's Celica All-Trac Project

May 26th 2006 - First track night. 1/8th mile. I was running 9psi boost. Couldn't get a good launch the whole night. I was still on the stock top mount, stock air box, stock fuel system. My time is on the right.

Re: Vip's Celica All-Trac Project

November 4th 2006 - I noticed that it was very hard for me to get the transmission into 3rd and 4th gears at the track the previous night. The night after I went to the track, I was racing a 2nd gen Turbo eclipse with a 20g turbo. I couldn't get the car into 3rd gear at all. The transmission was finished. I parked the car and sourced another transmission from my friend that had just bought a GT-Four front clip for his 3s-gte swap.
