Re: Help with low gas mileage
and just be sure to double and triple check the instructions on honda-tech for doing the foaming.. follow them to the letter. There's always a risk associated with putting anything but gas through your motor. If you do it wrong, you can cause a LOT of trouble. I printed out the how-to and had it with me for the whole process, and I can tell you, when the smoke first starts, it really is quite terrifying. Looks like a blown motor, smells like a blown motor, sputters, coughs, ticks a little bit.. it's a violent little process. So please be careful!

Re: Help with low gas mileage
I've had pretty good experiences running Bosch platinum tipped plugs on mine. check around ebay for iridium plugs/good deals on normally expensive plugs...
lol I love ebay. |

Re: Help with low gas mileage
If you end up going with the Bosch Platnium's, don't wasit your money on the +2 or +4's, one pole on a plug is all you need, plus gapping them is pretty much impossible.

Re: Help with low gas mileage
Haha iridium bling, I'll have to look into that one. And yes, the MSD cap + coil combo is good.

Re: Help with low gas mileage
i did it. let me tell you when you see the smoke...i was a little scared for Iris. it didnt smoke for as long as i thought it would though. first i put one third in to the booster line idle was going crazy light smoke came up cut the engine put 1/3 into the crankcase last of it into the gas tank. it was harder to start. the smoke came up and i drove it hard for like 10 min but the smoke stopped fast. took it to get the oil changed, jiffy lube cleaned the fuel system for cheap(im like whats wrong with extra clean) before i did the seafoam i filled up on 91 and got 314 miles on 9.77 gallons thats better then the first post and driving the same way with a 114 mile trip in there(round trip). the header will be on before the tanks gone the shop wants 100 to put it on should i do it myself?? still got to put the plugs in. after this tank i was gonna go back to 87 to see the difference, should there be?

Re: Help with low gas mileage
Glad it went well. I think you should do the header yourself. It's not hard at all. Most difficult part is getting the old O2 sensor out. If it's the original, 9 times out of 10 it will break off in the old manifold, in which case you'll need a new one (~$50 on Ebay.) Anyway, you should notice a difference in your mpg and overall engine performance.

Re: Help with low gas mileage
100$ for jackstands qualifies as getting raped, but either way, it's a good investment becuase you'll always have them to do anything else with.

Re: Help with low gas mileage
I've been using the same 2ton hydraulic jack and pair of jackstands that I got from wal mart for $32 on clearance for the last 6 years. They are SOLID. Check wally world.
