Looks like your average run of the mill kit car, probably Fiero based...

Hey Porsche58, is that a 904 or 906 replica in your signature?

The sig car is a 904 based body mounted to a 914 (my own creation).

How far along is it? I love all things Porsche, especially the 924, because it's the only Porsche I can afford to run!

I am thinking of a 1.8T swap in a 914. Do you think it's possible/easy? I know it would be a bit of a chore going from a flat 4 to a inline... is it a transverse engine/tranny, or longitudinal?

The body is just about done. I have a web site at www.9014online.com . Look under prototype.

Engine Swaps and the 914. The real question is what do you want to achieve. I’ve do a few different engine swaps with the 914 from V8 to Porsche 2.8. If you want EXCLENT performance and don’t want to break the bank I would get a Subaru WRX 2.0 Turbo. This engine fits every nicely in the bay and it looks almost original (flat 4). I currently have one of these engines in my Porsche 356 Kit. I spent last weekend on the dyno and I was able to produce 312hp at the wheels. Now if I could just get more traction.

It seems to me that it is uses an Integra Type R engine. It looks to be a very good kit car, and it is reasonably priced (a Caterham 7, mid-level, unassembled, is about $32000). Also, the forum notes you can fit an LT4 in there also. I think this is probably one of the best kit cars out there, I would much rather have something like this over a Superperformance cobra.
Alas, a great car I can afford out of university. But for now, no money, and great sadness

Sounds good! What are you going to be charging for the body? I'd want to work out the mechanicals for myself, but that is a very nice looking car! My one point of criticism would be the scoops, they look a little over the top IMO.

Yes, the vents do look big. But remember now small this car is. I also kinda like how the shocks are protroding in the front, it looks like a pure racing car (a la formula 1). Also, it allows the front to be lower, while stilll providing adequate suspension travel.

I am not sure if you are talking about the K1 or the 9014. I guess we got of topic.

If you are talking about the 9014 the side vents will be optional. The original 904 had very large side vents and if you plan on running an air cooled engine they make a lot of since. I like them because they allow for a cold air intake which is good for a few extra hp.

I was talking about the scoops on the 9014. I think the whole car has a very sleek appearance, and that the scoops sort of detract from that... just my opinion.

Those Subara flat 4s are water cooled, aren't they? Where do you put the radiator(s) in a 914?

Cbass,

Your right the Subaru is water cooled. If you look at the picture the front of the car is longer than a 914 (but not by much). The addition length permits for a radiator and a/c (if you want). Right now the hot air is exhausted thought some holes I made in the wheel wells. However I am make a new hood that will look simulate to a GT40.

If your are serious about an engine swap I would contact KENNEDY ENGINERRED PRODUCTS. They product my flywheel and conversion plate. They also have the doc on V8's and radiators in a 914.

When do you expect to have it finished? Those pics on your site look quite up to date. I have too many projects as it is, but my brother is looking at kit cars, and he might like to be one of the first people to own a car like that.

How much did the Subaru swap cost you to do? I mean, all costs considered.
