parking brake vs. car in park...help!

I know this is going to seem like the most ridiculous question in the world, but I would love some answers to calm my nerves.

I have really bad issues with breaking bones. Just thought i'd give some background, though it may be unnecessary.

Anyway, yesterday, I was coming up my driveway, which is on an incline, and my brother was in front of me, and his axle broke. So I jumped out of my car really quick to see what happened, and realized that I pulled the parking brake up, but did not put the car in park

I fear that the car rolled. My brother and cousin who know a lot about cars said it couldn't, but they are still young, and I'd like to get a mass opinion about this.

I just am nervous that it rolled onto my foot, because my foot has been killing me ever since! I know, I know, I would know right! But I just want to get an opinion.

Thank you all!

Depends which type of ebrake it is. Rear drum brakes if adjusted right shouldn't allow the car to roll. If it's a rear caliper/ebrake it can roll easily.
