Re: Aoshima has a Supercar secret to share... its a M.....

I just modified some photos to point out the possibility of variations, but the FB post pretty much confirms it, doesn't it?

you're right hirofkd, there are some differences there

the FB announcement seems a bit like them buying extra time, and perhaps even deciding to go back to add more detailing, they say "winter 2013" which is several months from now yet

Ooh yes, I'm very happy to see the news for us from Japan. I have the time to wait for there delivery and do not "trainspotting"! That waste my rare time for the hobby!

Some rear view pics of Aoshimas Mclaren GTR, and there were other few "surprises" at Shizuoka, namely Studio27's Fiat 124 spider.

Re: Aoshima has a Supercar secret to share... its a M.....

Aoshima's Japanese blog is updated, and here's my paraphrasing of the comment made by Aoshima's supercar guy.
-----------------------
Just before the hobby show, hell broke loose in the office. Fujimi's announcement of the short tail version forced Aoshima to reconsider whether they should make the announcement of their long tail version or not. Decision was made to go ahead on May 9, and they began preparation for the display, sample etc., which only completed on the 15th, the day of loading/unloading.

The model is currently undergoing refining of details, including the roof-top intake, rear wing, and front bumper.

Release date is tentatively set to this fall, and the price might be a little higher than the Aventador kit.

Possibility of variations is up to the modelers' imagination, although it'd be easy to guess.

They're hoping to show a finished sample and injection molded parts at October hobby show.
-----------------------

I wish I could visit Japan this October.

Hiroaki,
From what you read in the blog do you think the team at Aoshima were unaware of the Fujimi effort before their announcement?

I have a feeling the neither Aoshima and Fujimi did not know what each other were working on, model companys keep there upcoming new projects a secret

Ummm, I can't tell, because the blogger usually maintains nonchalant tone of voice.
The person commented on Fujimi's announcement by saying something like, "Wow, finally! I wonder if it's going to be like their F12 kit. There are many variations [of the real car], and I'm looking forward to their future releases."

Because the timing seemed suspicious, I originally thought they knew about their plans to a certain extent, but model companies usually don't allocate money based on mere rumors, so the McLaren F1 kits may be a pure coincidence (including Hiro's resin kits).

Japanese Model Graphix magazine often covers these kinds of topic (like on Lotus 79 and Aventador kits in the past), so I'm not a subscriber, but will get a hold of relevant issues for any insider info.

Aoshima wrote on FB:
"Development of F1GTR Long Tail is going great, and we won't make any compromise even an "inch in 1/24" scale."
"Full engine, with more than ever detailed!!"
"Fans voices will motivate us for going even further in details and precision than we initially planned ourselves...just want to see our fans!!"
About release date:
"Dec 2013."

Re: Aoshima has a Supercar secret to share... its a M.....

It was up on the Japanese Aoshima blog, too. I hope Aoshima doesn't omit crucial part of the car. I was a little shocked when I discovered that their Aventador kit doesn't have drive axles, and while omitting the transmission is understandable, the drive axle is something every car kit should have, IMO.

Meanwhile, Aoshima has been working on another project, but it's hard to make out from these teaser images. The distance between the rear wing supports might give a clue?
