Re: Tamiya 1/12 Enzo Ferrari..... Whats in the box... First Look

Well there's also a 1/12 288GTO that wouldn't need new tooling from the ground up...

Please, Tamiya-San. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAZE!

But this f--kin' thing is killer, far and away the best, most exciting new car kit I've seen in forever.

I second that! I should be receiving my Enzo kit soon.

I also wouldn't mind Tamiya re-tooling their 1/12 semi-ready Porsche Carrera GT and converting it in to a kit like the Enzo one, either.

Re: Tamiya 1/12 Enzo Ferrari..... Whats in the box... First Look

Just received mine today and I can say I'm definitely impressed so far with Tamiya's craftsmanship just by looking over the parts. It's one thing to admire Tamiya's Enzo or FXX kits in 1/24 scale, but it's a whole different ball game seeing it in a BIG 1/12 scale.

I love the various small detailed textures like on the exhaust catalytic converters, engine bulkhead/firewall, seat fronts molded in a silicone type material with molded-in stitch looking detail, and much more stuff that I'm sure to come across as I dig further in to the kit.

All I can say is keep them coming Tamiya!

Hey, isn't their 1/24 scale Enzo just an Enzo scaled down by 24?

Indeed looks like an incredible model kit, but $600? And yes, I have spent $200 for a resin curbside 1/24 scale kit so maybe it's not all that outrageous. Personally don't think I could justify it though. $300 perhaps, since their reissued 1/12 scales are going for around $160.

Hiroboy has it listed for nearly $700, but HLJ still has it listed for $300.

Don't forget that you still have to ship it from Japan. That's not a small or light box. It's about $55 to the US. That's still cheaper than Hobbylinc which has it for $400 and free shipping.

I paid 6000 yen for shipping by way of EMS from HLJ. That is $74.79 at todays exchange rate FWIW....

$600 dollars!? Good lord where are you getting that price!? It would definitely be a rip off at that price. I paid $350 shipped (via FedEx) for mine through HLJ. The FedEx option was cheaper than the EMS option on HLJ. The kit was well packed as usual. I was pleasantly surprised that HLJ actually used a sensible sized shipping box.

Tamiya USA website lists suggested retail at $610. I wasn't aware that HLJ was offering it for about half that price as I'm sure others will offer discounts as well.

When I saw this kit, $600, it could not be worth it. Maybe it still is not at $600, but at $300 to $400 it sure is. Apologizes to viperofoz, it looks like we wiped out your bandwidth on Photobucket I was hoping to see more pictures of the metal parts, ah well guess I will have to go out and buy one myself.
