!972 Slant Six Duster, Turbo projekt

Hey guys, I'm just a yougn buck, only 16, so I just got my permit, but I already have a car A decent 1972 Plymouth Duster. My dad started otu with that same car, but it was a 1973 340. Ok hers the problem I have two options. I could go with an engine swap, I have a donor 1975 360, modified(on a scale from 1-10 teh mods are like a 6.5) I would liek to do this seeing as to how the torque and hp would be reasonable, but I want to take the road less traveled, and do a Turbo. I don't know exactly how I would do this , kause I am suret they don't make all teh components I need, but I was thinking along the lines of t3/t4 hybrid and possibly making the exhaust to fit. Any feedback on my plans would be greatly appreciated, thanks. I do plan on racing this car, so theres my connection to the Street racing section, heh.

E46 isn't that the new M3 motor code? I like Bimmers a lot but I'm not real knowledable on them sorry, hh

E46 is the current chasis code. 1999 to appearntly 2006 will be E46s. After that I think its gonna be E90. The motor in the new ///M3 is either S54 or S52, I'm not quite sure. I'm pretty sure its S52, and the S54 is on the M Coupe.

Edit* Quick search shows that the S52 is the Euro Spec 3.2 on the M3, in the US, they use the S54.

I personally think you should go with the 360, but if you where able to go with a 360 forced induction that would be the shit. But if your looking for fuel economy it would have to be the 6 cylinder.

honestly that six wont get much better mileage then the 8.

If you have a v6 it is two less cylinders that you have to feed gas/air into, now if your use to the performance of a v8 and always push the v6 alittle harder to get the same results yes the v6 will have the same or worse fuel mileage, but if you are a calm driver that is light on the gas you will have better fuel mileage with the v6.

I'd say go for the 360, you can get some good performance number's out of those engines, quite a few performance parts for those engines.

Well, the slant six gets around 20mpg, 25 if you drive like a grandma. Mopar small-block V8s, however, get horrible gas mileage. My friends 318 Ram gets 10mpg and he doesnt drive fast.

that said, ford straight-sixes seem to get pretty bad gas mileage. The 79 Ford granada i used to have had one, and it got 14 mpg!! of course, it had 185k miles on it. So if you want a six, get a mopar one, but it seems you already have, so good luck!

(go with the 360 if you want performance, i dont think a slant six can handle too much boost)

hey same im 17 but have had alot of build ups and fixing cars since i was 14 but dude id say get the 360 tough motors and they have some mean power if bored out. Get a set of headers and go to your local machine shop and get some pipe and bend them into some nice 3" duals. Maybe get a cut-out for the exhaust. that should start you off.
