The AF paint guide?

How many threads are made about paint choice in about a month? the answer is a lot. I reckon that we could put together a guide, showing all the different spray paint types and codes to make colour choice easier for modellers and save space for more important threads in the modelling section. It'll also stop people from making horrendous colour decisions on what is an otherwise good model.

Feel free to contribute something?

Re: The AF paint guide?

Why not, but what does that mean? Having on AF a thread where all Tamiya spray paint are listed, with codes and a pic to show the color?
It would be difficult to list all the automotive spray paints avaible on the market!....
Why not puting a page where a Flash program could show different colors on the same model, like some automotive brands do on the net?...

And more than that, what would we do that for? Isn't any modeler free to choose the color he wants, without having to ask for others "ok"? I say it as a Lambo fan: even if I wouldn't do it myself, you're free to make a pink Countach!

I'm not sure color-paint-choice-threads are really opened to help the maker to choose, but just to share the excitation and motivation of a begining project... I can say "choose black" or "choose white", but at the end "black or white" doesn't matter: what matters is the fact I said by giving my opinion: "this project is worth-it: go-on doing it!". That's important too! Am I completely ???

This would be a great start, then we could add the identical colours and codes from other model paint manufacturers, in the unlikely event that someone doesn't want to use Tamiya.

Thumbs up

Yes, i agree with all of you on this one. It'll be yet another useful addition to the FAQ.

Later, Mike.

Yeah, that colour chart is kinda what I had in mind, except with a bit more detail. I'd be glad to do it, but would anyone out there help me out with getting some of the images?

I think it's a great idea, but I think that, the most important thing would be to talk about alternative kinds of paint and paint made by manufactures other than tamyia, there is a lot of information on tamyia paints on the threads, but very little on other manufacturers. Even if everyone agrees that tamyia is the best and stuff, it wouldn't hurt to have some information on alternatives.
