2 new can shaft sensor/ still throwing code?
I have a 1998 Chevy 5.7 vortex engine, not sure of the miles as it has been replaced before I bought the truck. Problem is I've replaced the can shaft sensor two times, distributor gear, cap and rotor, even checked the timing chain (it seems good) and my truck is still throwing a bad can shaft sensor code and she has a hiccup as we're driving along. Any suggestions?? Thank you in advance 😊😊😊

Was the distributor trigger phased properly when it was installed? The CMP signal should trigger after the CKP pulse. This can be checked with an oscilloscope or meter, or can be checked with a bi-directional scanner.

As said, I'm fairly sure the distributor has to be re-synchronized using a scan tool if the distributor is removed.

The distributor CAN be synchronized with a bi-directional scanner, but it doesn't have to be. It can be done with a meter or 'scope. Physically moving the distributor (there is a little adjustment on the V-8s) should get the rising signal events back in step.
