Changing Brakes

Currently have an '08 LR3 and need to change my brakes at about 24k miles. The sensor has not popped yet but dealer recommended that I change them out along with the rotors.

Needless to say, I am only changing the brakes at this point but when I attempted to do so the air suspension dropped the car automatically when I went to jack it up. Is this normal?

The manual says to lock the suspension of which I am aware that other cars are able to do but the same thing happened when I thought I had locked it. It doesn't seem the locking worked but do I just ignore this and proceed to change the brakes and if so will this affect the suspension in any way?
