racing in "automatic"
i got a s14 series 2 and was wondering on the best way to race in it,
say if im already rolling at 60-70k's would shifting into 2 then to D be the best? or just to floor it on D? what about at a red light....? any tips or hlep would be good.. thanks guys.. sorry if its a stupid noob question and repost =[ |

Use throttle control to keep the RPM's in the powerband.
For launching, find a good launch RPM (I don't know what that would be for an S14) and launch in D, or use the 1-2-D sequence on the shifter, if applicable. If your RPM's are up, don't downshift into 2nd gear from D, you could damage the engine and transmission. In fact, it's possible to damage the tranny by trying to use downshifting to 2 and 1 like a manual. I know this isn't very specific, maybe someone who knows more will elaborate. P.S. It isn't a stupid noob post. There are a lot of car people out there who don't know shit cause they think they know everything and never ask. Asking questions is always good. |

yea its hard to launch with an auto: and dont try and use it like a manual. if you look at the other thread i posted in right before this.. .i think it was titled "launching an automatic" i gave a really good way to do it.
