Hasegawa Toyota 2000GT

This was supposed to be a quick slump-buster. My initial choice of paint prevented that

Final color, which I should have started with, is Testors Flame Red. Three paint jobs, 2 clearcoat jobs, and finally it's done.

Basically out of box build. Such a gorgeous car, the design makes it look so long and low proportionally, while a new ND MX5 is just as long and much wider!

A great build of probably my favorite of the Hasegawa curbside classics. The crispness of this kit is unreal.

Pretty sharp and yes, it's nice in that red.
So, pretty small car then if it's narrower than a new '5?

Beautiful work, Bob! I like this shade of red.

This car makes me think of building a Mazda Cosmos, which I saw on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. We tend to forget there are a few beautiful, classic Japanese cars out there.

Great work, fantastic paintwork! I saw the same kit in white, silver and black but your colour choice is the best by far.

Gorgous! I can't complain about the color either, I have been finding myself wanting to paint everything red anymore... That's a great red, too, it really brings out the shape of the car. What did you use for panel lines? I am usually against them on principle but you've really improved the shape of the car by accenting the lines.

Thanks! The paint is Testors Flame Red, since photos of the real car show the red to be more of a blood red. Reminds me of the blood red XKE that I drove once.

Panel lines are the new Tamiya panel line wash enamel; I had to mix black and brown to get it to look right. The enamel flows nicely, doesn't affect the U-Pol clear whatsoever. Better working time than acrylic. I like it...this is the second model I used them on, the 918 got the gray panel line wash.

Thanks!

The panel wash is new, just now trickling into the US market.
