'02 Escape brake questions

Hi, I have a couple of question on the issue of brakes on a '02 Ford Escape XLT 4x4. I have a Haynes shop manual and read how the get the rear drums off. ( back off the star wheel adjuster) But how in the world are you suppose to get the star wheel backed off through that little hole in the backing plate. Are there special tools required? If so where do I get them.
Also, what size hex socket do I need the get the front calipers off. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Kevin

Cool Re: '02 Escape brake questions

*the rear brake deadjust--try using an ice pick and a small screwdriver. The ice pick is to push the self aduster lever back to disengage the star.
