Fuel Line leak
Greetings. I have a 97 Eldorado with a fuel line leak. It is at the metal connector going to the injectors. According to the manual, you need a special tool to disconnect. Is this right? Also, are there parts inside the connector that can be serviced?? Any thoughts??

Fuel line disconnect tools are available cheap at any parts store, there is a seal in the fitting, careful doing this as there is 60 psi in the line, remove the fp fuse till the engine dies to relieve pressure.

Howdy Max- thanks for the reply!
I got a tool, and it was so easy to pop them off. However...I pulled the O Rings out, and not am struggling to get the new ones back into the female end. Have you, or anyone else, done this? Any suggestions? How to hold your head while manipulating the things.....??? Thanks RonZ |

I use a very small screw driver to get them in place, put some lite lube on the o rings also, like trans fluid, very little.

Howdy again. This is getting interesting.
I got some o rings from Napa- they were much too small. Went to Cadillac- they ordered the 'right ones....the same as napa. We looked through the books, and that is the only O Ring they call for. They have now discontinued the whole fuel line, so that's not available. ONe more try, then I will cut the steel lines, and make a flare fitting, and join it via a flare. That should sove the problem permanently. Any thoughts anyone??? Thanks in advance. Ron Z |

Where the fuel line fits to the rail will not accept a flare.

max- thanks. I was giong to flare the line on both sides. But a friend had some O Rings that seemed to be the right size- so I gave it one more try..and it worked. I still dont understand how that kind of a setup can hold that pressure. I thought it was around 50 lbs, but not sure. So, I did not have to do any flaring, but i am convinced that it would have worked. And, since Cadillac does not have the O Rings nor the fuel line any more - discontinued - it might be an option for the future.
