Re: Mitsubishi Evo 3 Hasegawa !!

Nice start. Yeah, the black undercoat will allow all the silver to reflect back. Nice start!

Re: Mitsubishi Evo 3 Hasegawa !!

plan change
the silver paint seem not to reflect the black color inner it
so i decided to respray it to 'saga blue' that is a pearl color

i currently applied 3 layers of mist coats cause the weather is bad and don't allow me to do wet coats :-?

Re: Mitsubishi Evo 3 Hasegawa !!

interior looks a bit messy and a bit too glossy.
think about using a different finish paint.

Re: Mitsubishi Evo 3 Hasegawa !!

no offence but it looks a mess.
maybe you should think about taking a bit more time and a bit more care when you paint/build a model; i can see lumps in your paint all over the place.
one more thing, if you want to simulate cloth, you should've flocked with the finest possible flocking you can find, not try to paint an "effect" on it (badly).
if you're not sure on how something will look, try it on a spare bit of plastic instead of doing on the model proper. It'll make the whole building time longer but you'll end up with more things learnt and a model that will (or should) look better at the end of it.

Re: Mitsubishi Evo 3 Hasegawa !!

Hey cham2020,

Brushing red over black will normally give you bad results. Because the red is usually more transparent. Even if you put more than 5 coats over it will still look messy. I tried it myself sometime ago and I ended up stripping everything and mask then repaint.

You can try to save this by coating it with flat coat. But this will only get rid of the shininess. It may look ok after that.

But if you want to get the perfect look, you may want to strip, mask and repaint.

Winston

Re: Mitsubishi Evo 3 Hasegawa !!

thanks drunken monkey for the advice
i read somewhere they created the effect by using the dry brush technique so i decided to tried it out
if not it will be pure red and will be clear coated...

thanks again for the point out

Re: Mitsubishi Evo 3 Hasegawa !!

you might've missed it but most people use a combination of flat and/or semi-gloss paints for interiors. i'm pretty sure if you did the same, the dry brushing (which should be done a pretty much DRY brush) wouldn't look so hideous.
