hi again,

joel, i've just used the tamiya basic putty & it seems to be quite handy. it's so easy to use.

i'm gonna sand them maybe tomorrow as i'm waiting for them to fully dry.

Hi Adrian. You'll probably need to sand it down and put on putty once or several times more. Try to use some primer in between if there's no irregularities visible with your own eyes.

hi guys,

after i've placed & sand the putty, i primed & painted the parts. actually it's the first time i've used the primer. this is the pic after i've done the paint.


i'm wondering, does the tail cowl have the seamline on the real bike or not?

oh yeah, i forgot when i posted the post above. the instructions in s27 says delete the mold of the silencer. how should i do it? cut the mold with a knife?

Adrian, just picked up on this thread.

Regarding your last question - just use sanding paper or a file to smooth out the silencer. Likewise with the seams on the halves joining and the mould lines - just smooth down with sanding paper. Cutting that kind of detail away with a modeling knife will be messy and if you were me, the knife would most likely catch somewhere and you'll end up ruining the silencer itself with gouges.

As for the questions a while ago on the weathering of the exhaust system - the only way to go about it is with airbrush. You can't hand-paint it and have it look natural. Unless you've got a misting technique you'd want to share with me!

As for this kit - did one myself last year. It is highly enjoyable. The scheme might look a bit intimidating, but these decals are just awesome. You can almost just show them the water and model and they practically apply themselves! You'll see when you get there - think it's the best set of aftermarket decals I've ever worked with.

Hi adrian
With tail cowl do you mean the one at the rear end where the exhaust muffler exits or the larger lower piece in the front of your photo? I guess that you mean the first one I mentioned and that piece doesn't have a seem in real life. It mounts on the part where the actual seat is located.

seabee, i filed off the mold on the silencer & it looks all right after that. i think i would be using the knife if i didn't ask the question just now. also if i use the knife, i may have damaged the silencer. here is the pic of the exhaust with the mold filed off, placed putty & painted.

hi guys,

i puttied both the fuel tank & the tail cowl to get rid of the seamline. it seems to be ok in the end. about to finish soon when i complete the steering & setting up the cowls.

the bike is 95% complete & here is the pic of the nose & side cowl.


actually i thought of going a little bit of the extra mile in detaillings. this is the pic of the front side of the bike. i'm wondering how do i set up the clear wire & the green wire in that area.

The cowls looks good! Maybe the left side of the cowl have airs bubbles (Over the letter e) anyhow with a little bit of micro-sol the problem will be solved.

yeah, i'm aware that there's an air bubble at the left cowl over the letter 'e'. i'm wondering, is there a website that sells microsol? i couldn't find it at hlj.
