Is a 2000 Accord Coupe V6 much fast than a 96 ls?
The other day I was driving down the intersection to go north towards freeway 880 in my 96 ls 5 speed and the only mod I have is a short ram intake. At the light to enter the freeway I was just revving my engine for the heck of it and then an old as dude around 60 in his 2000 Accord Coupe V6 Revs his engine back at me. My light turned green before for his so I was just at a 5 mile roll and I waited for his light to turn green. So we were just side by side and he just launches his car and I do so. So at 1st and 2nd gear we side by side until third gear around 70 mph all of a sudden his car had a burst of energy in his car and he was long gone. I think he was about 30 to 50 yards ahead of me. By the way I had three other people in my car which I don’t think makes a big difference. But while I was racing him I didn’t heard any signs of turbo or anything. I think his car was bone stock unless his car had NOS and he used that and blew me off bad. But I don’t think a 60 year old dude would have NOS in his car. He had no exhausts or any sign of modifications on his car. His car is a sleeper I guess. I checked online and compared the ls Integra and the V6 Coupe Accord and the specs are exactly the same, not much of a difference. So what do you think he has done to his car?

you may want to double check those stats because the '00 accord V6 is a 3.0 Liter that from the factory comes with 200hp and I believe around 195 lbs/ft of torque which compared to your car which is a 1.8 L inline four which from the factory is 140hp and I think around 125 lbs/ft of troque so just by the specs alone it isn't surprising that he left you in the dust, those v6 accords definately have some kick to them especially the new '05's.

Re: Is a 2000 Accord Coupe V6 much fast than a 96 ls?
CasperGSR you must remember that the 195 torque engine the v6 accord has, also has to pull around 3,269 lbs, as opposed to the 127 torque engine pulling the 2,643 lbs. integra. The 2001 v6 coupe accord shows an 8.3 0-60, and a 16.6 quarter. the integra should be doing about 7.9 to 60, and 16.1 to quarter. It may have been a 2003 or higher accord v6, because those have a 3L, 240 hp engine, they do 6.2 0-60, and 14.5 quarter.

What I meant by specs was the 0-60 and quarter mile time and I m pretty sure it was a 1998 - 2002 Accord Coupe because of its tail lights.

From my experience, I think the 2000 v6 accord should be able to knock off the ls. I have a 4cyl 2000 accord wit manual trans and I've raced my friends 94 ls a few times. The first time I stomped him cuz he tried to launch way too high and spun alot of first gear. Second time I jumped him off the line and then he gradually took over. Third time about the same.
All I have is CAI, but I also got heavy ass 18s on my car. He has short ram intake and exhaust with stock wheels and tires. So if he didn't stomp me, I would suspect the v6 version could take a stock ls but I don't see it taking off in third like that. Ive raced v6 6th gen accords and they move pretty good. I dunno

Anyway, greenmonkey, from my knowledge tegs 93+ had 1.8L dohc in ls and type r trim making 140 and 190hp respectively. gsr models had 1.7L dohc making 170hp.

Re: Is a 2000 Accord Coupe V6 much fast than a 96 ls?
OK,
90-91 integra LS & RS had the B18A1 1.8L DOHC non v-tec 130hp and 121tq 92-93 integra LS,RS & SE had the B18A1 1.8L DOHC non v-tec 140hp and 126tq 92-93 integra GSR had the B17A 1.7L DOHC v-tec 160hp and 117tq 94+ integra LS,RS & SE had the B18B1 1.8L DOHC non v-tec 142hp and 127tq 94+ integra GSR had the B18C1 1.8L DOHC v-tec 170hp and 128tq 97+ integra Type R had the B18C5 DOHC v-tec 195hp and 130tq Those are the motors that the integras had from 90 up. That should clear any confusion.
