Re: 2000 Sephia - check engine light blinking
the check engine light flshes when the vehicle is experiencing a misfire. this is in most cases caused by fouled spark plugs, yes a bad vc gasket seeping oil onto the plug will foul it. in most cases it is just becasue the plug is worn out. sometimes it is the valve cover gasket like the guy above said and sometimes it is the coils have gotten stressed and the bodies on them have cracked and the spark is arcing elsewhere besides the plug.
if you are mechanically able-it is an easy fix. if you are not so inclined take it in and it should be easily erpaired for you. at most dealers all of those parts should be in stock. i know they are at mine.

When mine misfired (two seperate time) on two different plugs, my Engine light stayed on. BTW: Mine was caused by leaking oil into the plug. |

Sorry kyle95g20, I was reffering to the Valve Cover Gasket. I went and bought one at the Kia Dealer. Cost me $50.07. Sime to install, and haven't had a problem with miss fireing plugs ever again.

Re: 2000 Sephia - check engine light blinking
I have a 2000 Kia. Today on my way home from work the check engine light came on and the o/d off light started to flash. I am worried that it might have to the tranny.
