Re: 96 GS-R vs. 69 Chevelle SS
well when i was reading this i was thinkin to myself.. this guy's gotta be pushing some psi.. altho i don't see that there.. raising the flag would be the most obvious choice.. but hell, if it is true.. nice kill!!

Re: 96 GS-R vs. 69 Chevelle SS
ide sat the SS was old and the engine was still runing stock. thies no way a 4banger can beat a 402 like stayes before, if you have major internal work done. i had an 84 camaro v-8 and my friends 2000 intrgra kiled me. v-8 are stong if their properly kept up and take care of. kinda why the 5.0 stang seems to be a tough compedtor but if they dont invest to keep it up and rnnin good then their ez to beat

Re: 96 GS-R vs. 69 Chevelle SS
well i went against a 460 with my car and hung dead even from 3k in second to 5k in third.. but had to shut it down before i ran into a bus.. then again the 460 was in a 76 ford with 7" lift and 38 1/2" tires.. still a mean truck.. looked over and all i could see was the wheel.. scary sight
but hey man.. a kill is a kill.. good job!

Re: 96 GS-R vs. 69 Chevelle SS
So which 1/4 mile time is yours on the slip you have? I'm assuming the left, which sucks cuz you ran out of your own time and lost to a 17 second car. LoL oh well it happens.

Re: 96 GS-R vs. 69 Chevelle SS
Your mods are I/H/E/M/ and a throttle body and you say you took a 13 second car, which runs god knows what with a 402...

I dont think 69 chevelle's came with 402's. MY book says 350,396, and 427. It also says the 396 runs 14.4 at 97.35 at the quarter mile so im assuming if it had a 402 it would be faster if not pretty close to a 396.

Autos in big blocks arent slow compared to autos in 4 bangers
I agree that if v-8's arent kept up, they will run but not like they should. Example: Guy at my school has a 78-79 camaro with 350 in it...a very tired 350. My pals stock 4.0 grand cherokee beat it up to 90. No lie. My cross country bud's taurus played around with it (with me in the car) and we could pull it pretty damned hard from 40.

Re: 96 GS-R vs. 69 Chevelle SS
396 was bored out to 402 cubic engines, reportedly to meet new emission standards
the L78, which is 375 hp choice supposedly runs mid 14s. if she hooked up off the line i dont think there is anyway you couldve come out in front |

Re: 96 GS-R vs. 69 Chevelle SS
Like tazz says the car should run a mid 14...I ran a 14.929 at 95.3 and the driver said the motor was a little tired out. The numbers add up, i was just lucky the motor wasn't in 100% condition.

Re: 96 GS-R vs. 69 Chevelle SS
Sorry with altitude correction i should run a 14.7 (I'm at about 1500 feet), if that helps at all.

Re: 96 GS-R vs. 69 Chevelle SS
Don't even believe it. Sorry, you can fool everyone else but me. I might have believed the story if you didn't keep adding on excuses.
"The car practicly lifted off the ground" ??? Watch too much TF&TF? "I spook with the driver afterwards it was an auto." "the driver said the motor was a little tired out." You even said you had "Platinum +4 Plugs" like DAMN, that must add enough horses to kill a v8! If your going to bluff a kill, atleast stick to the story so it doesn't sound so lame and 'added on' after you realize how unrealisticly it was made up. Souned like you knew the owner because aparently she said it was a little tired out. But it didn't seem like you knew the owner OR the car when in your first post... this car just pulls up to you. I bet this 'owner' of the chevelle didn't infact see you and was minding her own business when she see's you making an ass out of yourself screaming slowly past her with your '+4 platinum plugs' when she didn't even have her foot half way to the floor yet. I CAN go on but I want to spend my time more accordingly. GG. |
