Re: What up A.F? (Old School Members)

Wow, it's been a while. First time posting in a couple years. A lot has happened. Quit my job at MBZ of Beverly Hills to pursue a Mechanical Engineering degree. Moved out to Massachusetts with my girlfriend. We recently broke up but I'll be starting the real work of that ME degree at Northeastern University next fall. As for cars...I still have the E55 though I've done some work to it to clean up the look. Being in the Boston area I only drive it about 8 months out of the year. The winter beater is a '98 Grand Cherokee...nothing worth posting about but it's a beast in the snow.

How my E is looking currently:

And how it sounds:

Eisenmann Race exhaust with resonator delete. I had the exhaust on it for like 2 years before I decided it was too much to live with on a day to day basis. It is currently much quieter.

You never did tell me how your replica of Tangie's Taco is working out for ya...

I very seldom lurk around here anymore - I work 2 (soon to be 3) jobs, I bought a house last year and I have a pup who consumes most of my time.

Re: What up A.F? (Old School Members)

I'm still here, and since I refuse to join Facebook, I have to do something on-line.

But work, school and family keep me extremely busy so I have been here much less recently. Besides, much of my auto knowledge is pretty out-of-date, since I work mostly with vehicles from the 1940's through 80's, so I find I don't have as much to contribute.

That is about the same boat I am in. I can do general old school mechanics, but I'm afraid I'm not great at the newer stuff. Sigh...

Hah, none of us are since you need an electronics certification and a $20000 machine to diagnose things nowadays. Give me mechanical stuff over electronic any day.

Re: What up A.F? (Old School Members)

It's too bad that all that electonicy stuff is what makes a modern TDI get BETTER fuel mileage than the old mid 80's jettas and golfs, even though the new ones are over 1000 pounds heavier and make 1.3 times the power.

You're 100% right, and I've actually been looking at a Jetta as a next vehicle.

But perhaps I should clarify: as far as working on them, give me mechanical over electrical anyday.

Re: What up A.F? (Old School Members)

Ill give you that.

Im planning on a 2010 Golf TDI as my graduation car. Though the 2011 Jettas are way better looking than the MkV's.
