Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet
Great work samzbob.
That leaves us with just 3 chassis numbers that have not been seen since leaving the factory - #052, #057 and #066. >8^) ER |

Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet
I think he means 'no HDF Kit' which is a shame because I was really hoping it would be this car:
And then there were three - Silver F1s with the HDF Kit... >8^) ER |

Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet
Was this post by hurstg01 (http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?vie...om=525#post544) on the Supercars.net forums referencing 049 as this car owned by Juan Barazi (http://news.caradisiac.com/VGN/jpg/4...c_Laren_00.jpg) therefore in error?
Or am I missing something....? Just ignore me. Yup, I missed the fact that this was an old post by him and at that time it was believed to be 049 as evidenced here http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...5&postcount=26 - 'This is most likely the Barazi car which is believed to be chassis #049' (Peloton25, June '05) |

Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet
To come full circle on the story, I think mini magic was the first to come up with #049 as the possible chassis number for Barazi's F1 through one of his sources. We ran with that assumption for quite some time before someone - Le Man's brother, I believe - finally put eyes on the chassis plate and returned with a photograph identifying it as #046 instead. I think Patrick had similar info/photos the following day as both saw the car at the same location.
We haven't always been perfect, but we try to base our assumptions on available info and work hard to get it right in the end. Each little piece of the puzzle we can confirm helps to solve other mysteries. I'm also careful to be clear when something is assumed versus when it is known fact, and others are too most of the time. >8^) ER |

............
As I said, a lot of the times I wonder why I even bother doing this part of the McLaren F1 Enthusiast's job any more, especially since many people do it much better than me.

Don't get frustrated. At least you are trying!
This little group does such a fine job of tracking things down that its really difficult to find new content. I know because I try unsuccessfully just about every single day. Keep at it though - you never know what you might uncover. >8^) ER |

Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet
Hey guys, do you have any info on the McLaren F1 that appeared on Top Gear a while back?
Video for those that do not know what I'm talking about. |
