Fitting a Rev Counter to a P reg / 96 Clio 1.2 RL

I've got a P reg (96) Clio 1.2 RL (D type engine).
I bought a rev counter / tachometer like this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OFFICIAL-FAST-...QQcmdZViewItem

Unfortunately I'm having trouble installing it. The instructions say that you need to connect one of the wires to the coil, but my model of Clio doesn't have a regular coil (because it is fuel injected?).

Does anyone know where I can wire up the rev counter to the signal (for the distributor?)

Sorry about the vagueness, I don't know much about engines.

I bought one to, only to find out its not easy to fit, you have to take apart the dash just to get to the cluster area where you could find the signal cable..
So I just sold it, not going through all that trouble

Re: Fitting a Rev Counter to a P reg / 96 Clio 1.2 RL

lol yeah i was thinking about selling it anyway & getting a turbo diesel, can't afford to do that for a bit though and the car is in really good nick (went straight through the last mot). Glad it did - I spent over £1000 in a new exhaust, brakes, starter motor and more in the last year or so.

So I think I'lk keep the car for another year or so, it would be nice to have a rev counter in the meantime though.

Do you remember what the signal cable looked like? What part if the dash did you have to take about?

Thanks for your help,

Ben

hi ben this is very simple just remove dash board and pull out insturment display look at the cluster on the back of fuel gauge connect sender wire to number 7 pink wire make sure that you have good ground &live witch you should be able to get from spare black&red&white leads located on dash above radio this will defintly work as just completed for my son good luck lenny
