Both of those codes point to catalytic converter issues. Literally P0420= 'catalyst system low effeiciency bank 1' P0430= ' catalyst system low effeiciency bank 2'. It's probably clogged or something. Important- never just throw out a catalytic converter. Take it to a scrap yard that buys scrap metal and even if it's completely shot, it's still worth a good chunk of change because there's still platinum in there.

If the clog is bad enough it could. Ever heard of the prank where you jam something (most commonly a banana) in someone's tailpipe? The engine might not even start and if it does it wont stay running long. A clogged cat has a similar effect of causing excessive backpressure. Maybe not as extreme as the fruit-in-tailpipe prank, but still if your engine can't breathe both in AND out at all times, it's going to start shutting down on you.

the codes are converter . because the vehicles drives good but will die intermittently then I would re check your fuel pressures... key on eng off 60-65 psi on the OBS 1998 gm trucks ..

6 months ago you replaced fuel pump common failures AIRTEX PUMP,IMPROPER WIRING HARNESS SPLICING ,BAD GROUND AT FUEL TANK,BAD FUEL PUMP RELAY.

DO NOT USE AIRTEX EVEN IF ITS FREE !
