Cool

Just a thought - for that kind of money you could put yourself in a nice year old loaded Dodge Stratus R/T or Chrysler Sebring with the 200 HP V6. You'd also have a decent slug of factory warranty left as well. They're stylish, quick, and get good gas mileage to boot. The foriegn stuff is nice, but, its expensive as hell to fix and maintain.

Happy Shopping:

Cool

Like I said - it was just a thought. I think you're going to be surprised at just how expensive the newer VW stuff is to fix. Only cheap one to fix is the old air-cooled Beetle. Test drove a 325i back in May 03 - was not impressed at all, especially at the money they wanted for it. Best German car I ever owned was a 1980 Ford Fiesta - fast, cheap, and extremely reliable. Test drove a Passat a while back - seems solid as a bank vault - but - probably out of your price range.

Most VW cars are quite reliable. I would say go with the GTI or Jetta. They're all good. There are plenty of VW resourse on the net if you're searching for them.

Re: new car suggestions

are you willing to look into nissans. if you are, then i would look at getting a 300zx tt. they do almost a 13 second (14.1) 1/4 mile for about the price you are looking at. i dont know much about german cars (except porsche) but i personally like the vw jetta the best with what you are looking at.
