Hey i work at Toyota and no compact cars impressed me but the MATRIX..now thats a nice ride. Not fast but quick and fun! I driven the new corolla and it is pretty much quicker than a dx. I'm not takin sides but it is quicker than a dx no doubt.

i think the concept for the matrix is a good one, but i cant get over the looks. It looks like its just another gimmick vehicle, like the PT cruiser or some other crap. The vibe is the same way

Personally i don't dig the looks but how it rides is wat got me. The inside looks pretty kool.

Let's put it this way, I raced a guy in a Prelude 2001 Non-SH, he used to drag a 280Z with a Chevy 350 motor, so he DOES know how to drive. THOSE are the kind of Honda-drivers I like, and guess what NSX-JR or whatever, he actually HAS a HONDA car.

ive eaten my share of ludes and GSRs as well. i congratulate you on your kills. All im saying is the name corolla doesnt really put fear in the hearts of honda drivers. Im glad to see someone trying to correct that. I didnt mean to come off as an ass.

So your corolla runs 14's, that's not too bad I guess then. on a side note, my friend's crx just pulled 13.8 in phx last weekend on 1 and only good run on a stock h22. So with a little more work a corolla might be as fast as a stock prelude engine in a crx

Thank you for ending the madness. To add to what you said, I know first hand that stock Corolla's handle like a bath tub on wheels, because I tried to take a freeway exit going 55, and I found out what it feels like to have all four wheels on the road but see the road sideways. I'm sure with suspension mods like springs, shocks and struts with strut bars, it will handle better, but frames on GSR's and Preludes are set up for better handling... Corolla's are set up for grocery shopping, sot it's a burden to work with.
Seriously though, a CRX with a H22 would kill me right now. I think a stock H22 car without Type SH torque transfer system will give me a good race, maybe even beat me. I'm not on a mission to stop Honda, that's impossible... There's always goign to be a GSR with a supercharger that's gonna put me to sleep. But I at least want to TRY to go against the flow of traffic.
And wait a minute, aren't we import drivers supposed to be on the same side? We should be saying, "Focus' suck!" Not "Corolla's suck" Coz I can take a Focus any time of the week. I even took an SVT Focus, and look how much hype those have...

The new Matrix's are weak, I'd much rather have a GSR. Their center of gravity is too high, and their suspension is crap that's been stepped on, it's a wanna be GTS with a family wagon body, and they already said straight out that it's not going to have any aftermarket support because it retails too high.
The only family like sport sedan that I see potential in is the WRX and the SE-R spec V, or the four door GSR.
