well i agree with you ldelaysionl except on one thing...the wing
normally they are designed to create downforce....but without a wind tunnel there is no way to know that you did not mess up worse the aerodinamics of the car and even create lift aerodinamics should not be tampered with using eye measuring....there is a reason those wind tunnels cost tens of millions of dollars and engineers spend hunderts or even thousands of hours in them to fine tune the aerodinamics i think there are some body kits out there that are wind tunnel tested....like certain mugen ones i believe, but those cost an arm and a leg

Re: What annoys you at a street race or where you meet?
not only that, but putting downforce on the rear of a FWD car will not really help for drag racing's sake.

Re: What annoys you at a street race or where you meet?
why put force on the back of a FWD car?
for traction, you want downforce over the drive wheels. ?

Sarcasm if you couldn't tell. Which end you need downforce on has little to do with where your drive wheels are located. UNLESS you're talking about ONLY drag racing, but you weren't, right? Because you're MustangRoadRacer. Anyways, even in the case of straight line racing, MOST street cars don't need downforce on the back even if they're RWD, simply because MOST street cars don't have a major problem with traction at any speeds where a wing could produce a significant amount of downforce without acting as a parachute at high speeds. Re: What annoys you at a street race or where you meet?
he was talking about the guy with the trans am.
and I WAS talking about drag racing, which is what the topic was. don't start an argument when none exists.

I like to play devils advocate. Anti-FWD-wing sentiments were expressed, so I countered.
Okay, how bout this. Wings can be important on a FWD car in a straight line if the car produces lift and gets unstable at high speeds, a wing can help stick the back end down. |

wings on road cars were originaly added for better stability at highway speeds. when you have more downforce in the rear, you want to balance it out by putting more downforce to the front, with a front lip spoiler. you dont need to go really fast to make it work, highway speeds are enough to make a difference in handling. these wings arent bs, they actually help, and of course not all aftermarket wings do what they were intended for.

Re: What annoys you at a street race or where you meet?
never heard of a car generating lift at the rear.
sorry.
