Ford E-series vs Ford Transit
I wonder which would come out on top...
Consider all the capabilities of load capacity, tow capacity, fuel economy, space, etc.... But also consider the aesthetics like engine noise, looks.... |

Re: Ford E-series vs Ford Transit
It would depend on the intended usage ! The E-series van is more suited for heavy duty work carrying heavy items . The Transit is intended for more of a light duty role ( i.e.- delivery of smaller , less heavy merchandise ) . You're really comparing apples vs. oranges . Just my

Re: Ford E-series vs Ford Transit
Thats not entirely true. It depends on what Transit are you talking about here. I'm talking about the full size Transit used in Europe, Middle East & Asia (not the Transit Connect). The Transit was designed to be an equal to the E-series. However being developed in Europe mean't that it would have a small diesel engine and more options and stuff that what the U.S. market has. Frankly in the U.S., people love their V8 engines...
The Transit does feel more purposeful though as it is designed as a van. In the US the E-series and Savana seem more 'tailgate-less' versions of the F-series and Sierras. I'm a fan of the E-series and Savanas. I think their brilliant, but over here, we have the European vans too (Sprinters, Boxers, etc.... ) which seem built to do the same job while being economical, able to turn around corners better and don't need to have overly-wide tracks to have dually versions.... |

Re: Ford E-series vs Ford Transit
One thing the Transit could not have and that is the sound of an American V8.
I hear rumors of Ford planning to scrap the E-series and make the Transit as its Full-size van in all markets. But I think instead of doing that, why don't they just pool their resources together and build an all new purpose built full-size van. They could build and offer something that has alot of options in terms of size, engine, trim, etc.... Imagine a full-size Transit with a Triton V8... Frankly they have been the leaders in terms of van design for a long time (both in the US and in Europe) and they could knock the socks of GM and those German Sprinters, etc if they tried. They did it before with the original Transit, why not now. |
