Gold would probably work.
You could also try putting an undercoat on of another shade of darker green, that should darken the candy lime green significantly.

you could do in this order: primer, silver, transparent green, tamiya candy lime green, then your clear. That would make it look pretty nice!

Candy Lime Green is a metallic colour.. either back it with a metallic grey.. or can try orange too..

from my understanding of candy paint (after discussing the subject at the paint fabicators). candy paint is just a die, therefore the darkness of the color is created by the number of layers of paint laid down. the back ground color should also be the correct color for the candy. that was with automotive paint dont know weather the tamiya stuff is the same

Re: Deeper Tamiya Candy lime green spray...

I found out that using Tamiya Silver Leaf spray as a base for Tamiya Candy Lime Green creates an interesting, gold reflecting candy effect.

Re: Deeper Tamiya Candy lime green spray...

I did a paint job a while back with Tamiya Mica Red over a gold base, then a coat of clear red followed by a couple coats of clear and it came out very much like a candy finish. Don't know why the same wouldn't work for green.

Re: Deeper Tamiya Candy lime green spray...

I once sprayed a light coat of Candy Lime Green over a gold base, had an awesome effect, gold highlight with green in curves etc.
Tamiya's "Candy Lime Green" isnt a true candy, its more a metallic green as a true candy is a dye based colour.
For a darker shade you could try spraying over black or dark grey but the more coat you put on the more its going to look like the lid.

Re: Deeper Tamiya Candy lime green spray...

Personally, I put it on really thick. Often one can isn't enough, but nothing looks deep like making it really, really deep. My rule is if I can still see panel lines, it gets another coat!
