Heller vs RoG (Monogram) EB110

Hey y'all,

I saw a video on YouTube about the Bugatti EB110 (NOT Doug Demuro) and it got me considering building one. I have two Monograms in my stash because I've always loved this perfect little weirdo car. I was excited to build one as a practice for a diorama and then do a very serious job on the second (this may be more of a commitment than I can handle right now). I found that one of my Monogram kits is incomplete! While considering replacing it, I started wondering, should I get the Heller kit instead? If I get one each, which should be the basis for the "serious" build?

Basically, is the Heller Bugatti EB110 kit:
1. Any good?
2. Better than the RoG (old Monogram)?

Thanks!

I have one built and the second unstarted. Both are from Revell. Nice kit with more correct geometry than Heller's, and more detailed. Heller's kit has too many inaccuracies and simplifications. Just look to the comparison of the seats. Left is from Heller with some rework with yellow putty, the right is from Revell OOB.

Re: Heller vs RoG (Monogram) EB110

From what I've seen on the internet, the Revell one does look a lot better than the Heller, the Heller seems too slab sided, the "edge" along the beltline is too "edgy," and the nose on the Heller is all wrong. The comparison of the seats is actually helpful, a good indication of what's in the box. I ususally don't like the way Revell renders wrinkling in leather (I think they over do it in most cars), but the overstuffed living room furniture interiors of these '90s supercars make it perfect.

Great finish on yours. How did you get the little B pillar looking so good? Deep clear? I was considering using a piece of thin clear styrene (and some half round to make the rubber trim) over the black paint and decal to give it the look of glass.

Thanks! As I remember, it just painted in a glossy black. It was about 25+ years ago.
