My favorite of the new Alfas. The more I look at it the more beautiful it gets.I would love to have one of these sitting next to my 164 Q4.Hopefully one day they will make a Q4 version of this before they make a new model.

Exclamation Now there's something you don't see everyday . . .

That's a nice FRESH design for Alfa . . . although they still play with that line along the side of the body . . .

Very nice looking . . . mild, yet aggressive . . .

I hope they bring that to the States. That would definitely be nice to own and pimp around here.

lol.. love the quote
as for the 166 though i have to say it is my least favourite of anything alfa have made in the last 5 years or so. the front end's fishy styling and the fussy rear lights dont capture the elegance seen in the gtv and especially the 156. Im sure a lot of people feel that way, as the car has not sold well at all here and its looks are slated farily regularly. still, im glad alfa are making great cars again

cheers

Whaaat?

Crayzayjay, how can you say that about the 166's tail? The lights are fabulous.

The front end is not so good, IMO. One review I saw, said its "face is too small for the size of car" and I know what they mean.

Here in the UK, BMW 3 series are king in this class, but they are so common. 166's are much more stylish, and a lot cheaper (used, anyway).

to each their own
we obviously have different opinions regarding the car's looks so i wont change yours and you wont change mine. I do however appreciate that you are going against the crowd and buying a different car. IMHO, i just think that the 156 is a better alternative to the 3-series than the 166. i do like the interior on the 166 though, very stylish & classy

cheers,
jay

Well I heard that the 166 is a slow seller in the UK but here in NZ the car is quite a strong seller even if it is not as big a seller as the E-class and 5-series

How does the 6O7 sell in the UK???? last year in NZ 33 of the 40 of the years supply sold

Over here the 166 and 607 are both extremely slow sellers i'm sorry to say, particularly the 607. I know theyre for sale and yet ive never seen one. That says quite a lot me thinks

One of the more influential UK reviews of the 166 - Top Gear Magazine - pitted it against the BMW 5 Series, Volvo (V40?) and Saab 95. They though the 166 was best of the bunch (except that it ought to be rear wheel drive). So it's possibly more of a 5-Series competitor.

In the UK, the Peugeot 607 and Alfa 166 are both slow sellers, probably because of the British public's fixation with German cars in this sector. Pathetic. I know Beemers and Audi's are good, but they are a bit faceless.

hmm.. all ive read about the 5-series suggests it is a virtually perfect car in terms of its ability. Voted Exec car of the year something like 6 years in a row now? i dont know how the 166 was placed ahead of it

cheers,
jay

DAMN! never seen a 6O7!!!! I have seen 18 different ones just this year!
As for the 166 I have seen 7 this year. But that doesn't change the fact that every fifth car I see has a BMW, Merc or VW badge

No but I was interested in how much brothers my Peugeot had out there and heard Mr clarkson say he saw one 166 on the road throughout the whole year in one of his TG columns

If I counted all the Corrolla, Mondeo's and Commodores I saw then you could be worried

I know for a fact that 166's are all over the place in Auckland I drove down to Remuera (About 6Km journey) and spotted 3 166's and what get's me even more was they were all Silver.

I think the reason that Alfa's and Peugeots are reasonably popular here is because if you leave a 6O7 or 166 in a car-park in Mangere no-one will touch it, if you leave a BMW or Merc in the same park some-one will run a coin down it or kick a dent in there, since they are jealous off the German badge

PS. Jay what issue of TG is this in????? Gotta love it the way Clarkson dishes it to the Yanks.
