Replacing my '98 regal engine. Is this a good rate and engine price?
Price : $660 shipped (3.8L used, with intake/exhaiust manifold, 88k miles)
Mechanic install: $400 I'm having to replace my head-gasket blown Regal engine. I'm curious whether this is a reasonable price to pay for the "repair". Engine is through BasicCarParts.com...which leads to my second question: Has anyone dealt with that company? I design websites, and am perfectly comfortable buying computers, music, etc. from online comapnies, but have never bought an engine from one. I wanted a local salvage yard to price, but none had even a 24-hour warranty or tested engine available. Thanks Bryan |

Welcome to AF!!
This sounds like a very good price especially for the installation. The engine price is reasonable. Does the place you are buying the engine from give you a warranty on the engine? If you would like another place to check contact Ed Morad at moradpartscompany.com. He specializes in GM cars and has good products with a warranty. (You can check his prices at his e-bay store if you wish.) |
