2000 b1500 5.2 pcm issue help.

I am having the same symptoms as everyone else. Runs good when cold, stalls at lights, stalls in general, no bus error, etc. Heres the thing, I pulled the pcm just to have a look inside for fun. Hooked it back up and started van. Van ran good so I started to bolt the pcm back in with van running. As soon as the first bolt sucked the pcm to the bracket, van quit. Hmmm so I removed the pcm and let it sit on top of the radiator hose and still couldnt get it running. finally after a while it started again and I started bolting it again and bam, as soon as it touched the metal it quit. I have tried to run it not touching the metal and that doesnt fix it. Only time fixes it. What should I try next? New pcm? Thanks in advance for any help I may recieve.

Yes a new one, or at the very least get a used one from a junkyard or off eBay.

What do you think about the issue when the pcm hits metal and shuts off the van? Maybe a open circuit in the pcm that is shorted to the case? Of course I cant seem to find one anywhere in minnesota. Ebay may be the only option. What am I going to spend on one? Does it have to be flashed to my VIN? Thanks

Okay I got it to run in 15 sec spurts. Everytime it killed it was due to the fuel pump relay dropping out. So does this still point to PSM replacment?
Thanks

Since the PCM controls the fuel pump relay, you're still faced with the possibility of a bad PCM.

Try these sites:

Oh and by the way, the number for your PCM is just 56040389ab, there is no "p" at the front of it.
