Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?

I think a few very important points have been completely left out. Firstly, BMW is one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world, and it would be completely impossible for them to keep a new series, or a series they're planning to revive secret even long before it's release. And you're talking about a car that's supposedly been on the market for years now, and a revival of one of the top sports cars of it's time, and you can't find any proof of it's existance..
Being German and a BMW enthusiast I got in touch with a guy at the national BMW archives in Munich sometime last year asking him about the 8 series, because it's my favourite (followed be the old 6 series). He sent me an 8 series catalogue (internationally, free of charge) and explained to me that the 8 series had been discontinued because it had served it's purpose. The cars were magnificent, highly refined and it took a lot of resources for it to become like that. In fact, one well cared for will still look surprisingly new because the design was well ahead of it's time. But the point is, they'd created a fairly exclusive car, especially the 850csi, and it would have been hard to make improvements to it for some time, so it's one of those special cars you don't just churn out on a production line and turn into something common and therefore less significant. He also said there were no plans to produce it again. If BMW begin production of the 8 series again, you'll hear about it long before they release it, and personally, I reckon they'll wait until the original 8 series is many decades old and beginning to be forgotten, when they can develop it without having to worry about the comparisons people are going to make or whether it will have a big enough impact because the last release of such a special model was too recent.

With regards to the photo, it's taken from a weird angle and it could be an m6 or maybe a custom BMW.
But there is NO WAY IN HELL that the 8 series could be re-released without very comprehensive info on it being easily available, especially on the net. And there is no info on it anywhere.

Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?

I know this is all kinda hard to believe, but here's some fuel for the fire.

There is an internal application where we can search/LOCATE cars that are in the distribution system.

There is a new model number appearing on that application today.

It says "8"

right next to the Z8.

Selecting that for a search show no info whatsoever.

there was some talk about a crossover type vehicle a few months back. but I can't find anything about a new 8 anywhere.

Sweet, I need a password and username to log in. So if theres a way to log in without doing anything illegal, then let me know. Otherwise, thats fine, I may get a username when I officially start working at the BMW dealership that I got a job at.

Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?

I HAVE ALSO SEEN THE BADGED COUPES... 845ci about half a dozen times in the southwestern area around Hiway 6 area several times...the badge indeed does say 845ci. there is a black one, and a dark blue one.
I was within 6 feet of the right rear, I am a carhauler and know what I see, it is my job !!
Although I have not hauled one on the truck I was curious enough to do a search for more information and found this argument on the issue here...exactly what is going on is not a vision of imagination about what the badge says "it says "845ci) no doubt about that !!

Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?

This seems to be an argument like those about Loch Ness. Some believe, some dont. And we dont have proof either way. And I dont have anything to support the existance of it despite working at a BMW dealership. Which would seem like the primo place to get info. So I really couldnt say. All I could do is ask a general question for all who claim to have seen one:

When you think you have seen a supposed "845ci", please draw or sketch what you saw and describe it in words or how it was different from a 6 series. Then we can compare the sketch to a pic of the 6 series.

For the record, this is what the 650Ci coupe looks like (the 645Ci looks the same)

Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?

I must be seeing things...from 6` away I could have sworn it was an "8" and it is my business to know...I am going to call the railhead where the cars are sitting before they are shipped on the trucks and ask the dispatcher...this is kinda like trying to "catch a car with a butterfly net" or harness the power of lightning. I know where a silver one is and I am going to touch it ASAP.
It most likely is a "6" and looks like an "8"...sorry I goofed it up.

Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?

Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?

Hi all of you,

BMW will never release the 8-th series again as it was the most unsuccessfull model in BMW history. it was too expensive for its time and not very strong car, too many visits in the service and that's why BMW 6-th series was developed again.
BMW was, is and will be the gratest car on earth!
