New 2006 Acura RL SHL AWD Concept
This is the New Acura RL SHL Concept, Featuring a 300HP V6, and AWD. It's only a concept now. But this is a picture of it, resized from 1600x1200 pixels from my trip to the NYC 2004 International Auto show.

Re: New 2006 Acura RL SHL AWD Concept
First of all, it's the 2005, not 2006...
Then it's SH-AWD, which stands for Super Handling All Wheel Drive...

Thanks for the Pics Scientist. I personally like the design, its not the greatest thing but it has style and looks luxurious.

Re: New 2006 Acura RL SHL AWD Concept
I went to the Auto Show on saturday and those fags wouldn't roll the windows down or open the doors. They were hiding the interior for some reason wit those dark ass tints on all the windows. But it looks like they did the honor for you, I'm hating. How does the interior look?

i always thought the RL was more comparable to the Lexus LS400/430 than the ES300

I think I like the new SH-AWD. I've read a few articles on it, and it seems like a great idea. I really think Acura needs to move away from the FWD. They have great engines and great transmissions, they just put all the power in the wrong place. The TL would probably beat out the G35 if it were only RWD or AWD. Hopefully they bring this to some of their less expensive cars.

Yeah it's going to have a torque transfer system from what I know for better handling, and it's not a concept. The 300hp V6 will be released in 2005, at least in Canada from a recent car source. Acura is one of the only companies I've seen create different cars specially for Canada because of a little niche they found I guess. Models like the higher output TL Type-S A Spec versions and the 1.6 model which Americans thought a car that small couldn't possibly be a luxury vehicle on the inside are examples :\
Info is from a Canadian site but shouldn't be much different from a US car. http://en.autos.sympatico.msn.ca/adv...aen_summer2005 "Acura has been steadily replacing its entire line-up, recently coming to market with the new RSX and TSX, and an all-new TL for 2004. This fall the flagship RL sedan will be completely new, featuring a slew of new technologies and a 300-horsepower VTEC V6, the most powerful engine ever found in an Acura. The RL debuted as a prototype at the latest New York Auto Show; the production version is not expected to vary much from the show car. The RL Prototype featured a high-output engine, a ‘sport-tuned’ chassis and a new all-wheel-drive system Acura touts as ‘revolutionary’. This Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system is the first to distribute torque not only between the front and rear wheels but also between the left and right rear wheels." Sounds like this car will be based on a rear wheel design? Guess they're moving away from FWD. |

Wow, I really like the front, but the rear looks like a Saturn Scion :P
Any chance I could get those 1600 * 1200 pictures TheScientist? |

Re: New 2006 Acura RL SHL AWD Concept
The RL is already for sale... well atleast here in LA-and i think it looks awsome. With respexct to the review about comparing to the ES300-my mom owned one before buying the Rl (so i had the chance of driving both) The Rl is more luxurious and a far better preformer. Maybe the es300 had better handling but from a power point of view the Rl has that "oomph" that the es300 doesnt. I think the RL stands out more, and looks "richer" (1998-2004) The 2005 design is in a league of its own. And the SH-AWD is by far the best preformance upgrade made in a car thus far. RL is no longer a step behind the pack.. More power better handling and a more "in-your-face" design whoops on the competition.
