yea i would say awd is better for EVERYDAY driving.....rain, snow, ice, dry. Jsut because you dont know wtf is going to happen. But you can still manage without it. But for an all out reason to do something rwd is obvious winner. Dragsters etc rwd. F1 rwd. Indy rwd. I mean if all the top dog industries that put millions into research and development use rwd......it must be for a reason. Yea yea those arnt street driven....but thats not the issue. He simply said awd is better. Obviously not. Because if it was better they would design all those industries around it. It may have its benefits and what not, but i guess the negatives out number the positives. Or else they would design around it
the issue Formula one doenst use AWD is because its illegal.

the reason Indy car doesnt use it is because they need grip going out of the oval(as in you dont accelerate from 30mph to xxx mph, with 900 horses behind you), and because the system will add weight.

to be honest i dont know the official drag racing rules, but i simply just guess its because the front wheels barely have traction because during the first bit of acceleration, the wheels are most likely in the air. when the front wheels touch the ground again, it means that the rear wheels have full grip, so there are no needs for the front wheels to be driven aswell, because it will actually slow yourself down. the car generates less 'thrust' on the rear wheels, equalling less power overall, resulting in worse times.

why is it illegal in Formula one? well thats because the cars will have so much grip, they could just show trains racing each other. a RWD F1 car has so much grip already, FIA is designing new rear wings for the teams to use next year, to make it more interesting...

Re: The effect of F+F3 on the 240sx

exactly dude.......if it was better to make the sport more appealing they would design around it.....you dont need to elaborate it.

You should know my take on it. I can't believe they pulled that sh** but it is hollywood like chuki said. No offense, and for once I really do mean that to Nissan fanatics but can't other japanese companies make drift ready engines? How about mazda? TOYOTA?? Why nissan?

Re: The effect of F+F3 on the 240sx

because nissan is blowing up all the sudden. I mean they've always been big to me. But more kids are going towards nissans now. ANd the GTR is getting alot more recognition over here now. So i would just guess there putting all the new "trendy" stuff in the movie to draw more of crowd. In turn making there pockets fatter. Which allows them to live life with no worries. F'ing bastards.

Re: The effect of F+F3 on the 240sx

well good news for y'all....no 240sx's in the fast and the furious (i've got a feeling it's been said in the previous pages but i dont feel like reading them)...i guess it's because they don't have 240sx's in japan and they couldn't do a front end conversion cos they would have to convert it to rhd. we just need to hope that ricers don't figure out that they can make a 240sx look like a silvia. Bad news is that classic fastback mustangs, evos, 350zs, rx-7's and rx-8's, r32 golfs and maybe camrys if they realize that they cant find a chaser so they improvise are all gonna go up in value.

just for fun here's a little info on the movie i got from sport compact car:

The Fast and the Furious 3: We Test The Hype
Tokyo Drift Movie Cars: Dyno Thrashed & Tokyo Crashed

The following is the main info from the article, I didnt read the article yet so I cant touch further on any of the data.

Neelas Turbo RX-8 0-60: 6.7 / 14.9@ 95 mph
RMR EVO IX (rwd) 0-60: 6.6 / 14.5@ 103.6 mph
Volkswagen R32 (awd) 0-60: 6.1 / 14.4@ 94 mph
Toyota Chaser 0-60: 6.1 / 14.3@ 101 mph
Hans Veilside RX-7 0-60: 6.0 / 14.1@ 104.5 mph
RB-powered Mustang 0-60: 6.0 / 13.8@ 105.4 mph
Drift Kings 350Z 0-60: 5.7 / 13.2 @ 114.8 mph

RX-8 w/Greddy turbo 191.4hp / 186 lb-ft of torque
67 Mustang w/RB26DETT- 340.2hp / 264 lb-ft of torque
1998 Toyota Chaser Tourer V 246.8hp / 250 lb-ft of torque
R32 MkV w/rwd conversion 210.9hp / 208.2 lb-ft of torque
RX-7 w/HKS T047 turbo kit 305.7hp / 256 lb-ft of torque
Drift King (APS Twin Turbo) 350Z - 430.3hp / 413.3 lb-ft of torque
EVO IX w/RMR rwd conversion 289.5hp / 289.5 lb-ft of torque

The quickest car to 60 on 2Fast 2Furious was the Honda S2000 with a 5.7 posting and 13.9 @ 99mph ¼ mile and the R34 GT-R did 6.0 to 60 and 14.1 @ 101mph in the ¼ mile. I would have posted the rest of the 2Fast 2Furious numbers, but the fastest suck and I'm not typing the rest of the slowpokes.
