Detailed drawings of auto parts?
Are there detailed drawings of auto parts such as engines, transmissions, and suspensions? I would like to create a 3D model of a car.

Re: Detailed drawings of auto parts?
Yes, there are. I've seen detailed STL files of each piece individually (well, I don't recall seeing suspension files), but I'm not sure you'll find a complete set meant to play well together.
Spend some time on STLfinder.com. -Rod |

Re: Detailed drawings of auto parts?
I took a look at STLfinder.com and it looks like it would take me a long time to find 3D models.

Did you try the search feature? I'll admit the search feature doesn't work the greatest, but it certainly narrows down the results. Trying to think of all the different names someone could use for a piece is probably the toughest part.

Re: Detailed drawings of auto parts?
I wasn't very many pages in of a search for "detailed car model" and came across this model which seems to be like what you're looking for.

Re: Detailed drawings of auto parts?
I used the search feature but looking through the 3d models is like trying to find needle in haystack. I found a 3d model of a 1950's Fiat 500 car and I'm printing it out.

You could always model up your own parts just needs time and a source of parts to copy

Re: Detailed drawings of auto parts?
It is hard for me to create 3D models of parts while looking at pictures of parts on websites and books. The pictures usually don't have dimensions. I know that a car wheel is 13", 14", 15", etc in diameter but without looking at real parts and measuring them, I don't know exactly how big the part is. I tried looking at plastic model cars that I already built but measuring them is hard. I'm afraid of buying a new plastic model car kit and measuring the parts because most plastic model car kits don't have highly detailed parts. The model at https://grabcad.com/library/185257 isn't 3D model or the files are missing.
