Battery Backwards. Any Ideas?
Hello,
My '95 Integra's battery died. We bought a new one. Instead of a 51R, they gave us a 51, which has the terminals on the opposite side. We didn't notice until we touched the + cable to the - terminal, and sparks flew. Now, the car does not start. The horn works, but headlights and other electronics do not. Is it possible that we just blew a fuse, or is it likely to be something more expensive, like the computer? I checked the inside fuses, and I am about to go check the under-hood ones. Is there anything else relatively easily replacable that I can test? A very small mistake is going to end up being very expensive if I need to get the car towed to a garage. Any suggestions? Please help! Thanks in advance. |

The clamps are a little loose on the posts of the new battery. That seems pretty problematic... I know that there shouldn't be any tension on those cables, but I'm worried about corrosion and arcing if they did work themselves loose. I guess I'll try to bend them in, because it seems tacky to just jam some wire in between. |
