Help with aftermarket CD changer 330I
Hi, I've got a 2001 330I and I'm trying to purchase a CD changer to add onto my system. The unit in the car only says Business CD on it.
Any help on which aftermarket changer would plug into this system would be appreciated. Crutchfield only had a crossover for the Harmon Kardon system. I don't know if the Business CD radio is a Harmon Kardon unit or not. Pacific BMW shows a changer for an Alpine system for the E46 series. Perhaps this is the way to go?? Thanks for your help! |

I just took deliveryof a 2002 325 Ci. I have the Business HK radio with single CD in dash and no cassette.
Dealer wanted over $900 extra for a 6 CD changer which would link to the in dash CD. I'm not sure how it links the 6 CDs in the changer with the single one in the dash when using steering wheel controls. Please tell me if I can still use the steering wheel controls to change the tracks on each CD + different CDs in changer. I just found the following on a web site called: www.sounddomain.com. What appears to be needed are the following: CD Changer Interface Adaptor BMWPILA $119 Pioneer CDX P670 $169 So for $290 (instead of $900) I should be able to get what I need to install it. However, I was told by the dealer that in the Coupe, they would have to buildd some kind of wall in the trunk to support it. Yikes...Has anyone installed a CD changer in the trunk of their Coupe? Do I need to also purchase stand-alone brackets or will the Pioneer adaptor and/or CD changer have all that I need + INSTRUCTIONS on how to install it and where to find the wires in the trunk to connect the adaptor?? BTW, this company also sells a Beltronics cordless radar dector (Model 946) for about $150 which I might also purchase from them, unless you guys let me know of a better cordless radar detector. The Pioneer 6 disk player and adaptor cost about $290...do I get anything else for the extra $200 + from Alpine? I do not believe the Pioneer comes with that shelf you mentioned...Can it be purchased as a stand-alone item?

Not that I know of , just that the alpine works with the controls off the steering wheel. But I am sure the adaptor that comes with the pioneer does the same. Be a good idea to give them a call or search there web. Here is the info for the parcel shelf . actually the changer is 210 plus 130 for the adaptor. http://www.eskimo.com/%7Edalus/bmw/e...allation.html. You can do all of it yourself instead of paying like 300 bucks for installation.
