Car is making a Grinding/whistling noise while driving

Hi everyone im new to the forums and I hope some of you could help me out. My car is making a grinding noise and sometimes when it gets really bad even a whistling noise. I noticed about 2 weeks ago whenever I would turn it would make a low grinding noise that was barely noticeable but not its full blown and its making the grinding noise even when im just driving straight. Also the car seems to shake when it goes above 70 mph..... Could these problems be related????? Does anyone have any Ideas on what this could be??

Thank you so much in advance

On a side note it doesnt seem to make the grinding noise when its raining out..... Idk if this is just a coincidence or what but strange .....

Re: Car is making a Grinding/whistling noise while driving

I noticed no one replied to you so I thought I would give it a shot. I'm not a car expert and I'm very very new here. But your problem sounds similar to my car problems. Brakes man, brakes. It sounds like your calipers are sticking and grinding on your rotors. It would also make your car shake if your rotors are dug in and all tore up. So get that checked first. Then also an alignment and balancing of your tires can help tremendously.

Smile Re: Car is making a Grinding/whistling noise while driving

i have a 95 neon and lately iv been trying to get someone to listen to the sound it has been making in the front end. it makes a pop or a kind of grind.
it started when id turn into parking spots but now its when i take turns and my front end shakes at 55mph.

iv been told that it could be the axles or ball joints

have you had any luck with fixing your car?
if so what was the problem?

thanks

Re: Car is making a Grinding/whistling noise while driving

Your CV joints (axles) are probably the cause of the noise while turning. The other thing to check out is the wheel bearing assembly. You may have more than one problem and a bad axle will cause a wheel bearing to go south as well. The wheel bearing would cause the "whistling" type noise at normal speeds and it will usually increase in volume as the speed increases. Good Luck.
