03 santa fe v6, (I know nothing about this car, but its my moms lol) This morning I had to help her start it... My first try, it was turning, battery was fine, but it was like not getting enough of something... but it was trying really hard... I pumped the gas pedal rapidly opening the TB on/off and went faster... and got it to start up... not sure how the IAC works on it but im sure pretty close to the same... I think it might of been gummy or stuck, after I had started it was idling way below normal so I gave it a few good revs and it was ok afterwards

I need to clean the IAC area on my car for sure, I never cleaned inside where it goes when I changed it out w/ the new.

Other than that, I just love the line... "Well I could take YOUR car to work..." (the GA) YEA RIGHT!

I really think she'd have to much fun in it lol
I want to wash the 6 soo bad but not with the snow coming the rest of this week... it's not worth it.

It's a good chance that the IAC is a little gummed up on your moms sante fe. I can't say i know much about them, except they are very roomy and not bad to drive. Otherwise, i know nada about it.

Well today must be car problem day, since my brother couldn't get his mustang started. I laughed at him. ( i know I'm mean like that, But i didn't feel like saying I told you so) hahahah. He's having some type of electrical problem where the battery keeps getting drained.

Well enjoy the day guys

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

grfnkl forgot to say your G6 looks good, other then a little dirty.

My GT is covered in Mud on the pass side.

Ya Gir I dont know alot about the santa ge either.
I'd run a half a can of Seafoam(8oz) through the gas tank.

I have been using that stuff latly and its really surprised me.
The GT had this terable lifter tick at start up, and after I poured 2-3 oz into the oil........ its quiet as a kitten, purrrs right alone.

On a side note,
it got u[ to 36 deg last night melted most of the snow and rained making what snow is around hard like Ice. Since now temps are falling and I seen snow flying now

Heres some more pics of our late night snowman build.
4 FT snowball, probly wieghs 400 lbs !

It was rolled about 350-400 ft accrossed the field/yard

becarefull out there everyone!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Thanks Xi, but the 6 does need a bath badly. Interesting snowman and fort... etc. I would like to have a fair amountof snow here so i can go at least sleigh riding or snowball fighting or something! I need some time to play ! right now it's a snow sleet rain mix here, which won't amount to much, but i guess it's the thought?!! This morning though we got nada, just a little sleet right before i left for work... I was quite disappointed, I was hoping to call out!

So I was just playing around online, saw on the announcements of the forums, for the myspace group... so i figured what the hell I'll go join, and I see both XI and Gir as the top 5 with the screenname. I need to pay attention to these things more.

enjoy the night

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Ya I got poped in the eye by a snowball, that smart.
Over night the piles of snow deminished, though the giant snow ball was unaffected. All day its drissled and is now snowing lightly. I think I over estimated on the size too, maybe 3ft and 250-300 lbs.
This froozen stuff is great for runner sleds
If we get enough I'll pull the kids on a round sled with the 4 wheelr. Thats insane, I'd puke

On the myspace, I signed up to make it an even 30 count
I thought I posted that we had the Group.... maybe not.
I dont think I have been back to check it out though, like I have time

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Im just too cool for school!

So uh, I just did a beta test of my own fuel injection cleaning system

1 funnel w/ metal filter and tube (measurement markings on the side) for accurate mixture
Misc metal fittings and tubing
1 metal valve opener to adjust how much is allowed into the vaccume on the PCV

plans are to finish it up with some ties so no leakage, 1 Y split so I can do air and fluid cleaner mix and on that Y will be another valve to allow so much air in... all fitted of course... and somehow fit different

At the moment, its pretty ghetto... I was spraying seafoam from a can into the valve opener so I already had my air/fluid mix.. it'd take its sweet time in the 20ft hose I have bundled up but it'd get to the PCV valve in no time then Id hear the engine start to chug and make noise.. so Id open the throttle just a bit and it'd take it all in and Id have white smoke comin out

GUESSING, the seafoam spray wont harm the engine to much... while I still had the straw on the spray I cleaned up the IAC hole a bit.. decided to spray the rest straight into the PCV.. car works fine, no clicks or noises... made some pretty white clouds lol

If perfected, I might write up a review with all parts needed for one to make themself

You put the seafoam stuff in the can, into your oil?

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Yes Seafoam in the oil, about 2-3oz. The throw half the can in to the tank. That stuff is universal. Even can be put into the trans to clean stuck valves.

I realy would not put to much into the PCV.

Most of it just goes out the exhaust and burns up.
Sure its not good on the O2 sensors either.

Best way is to put a hose on the port on the back of the intake,
its on the back pass side of the intake(covered with a cap).
Then pour 2-3oz in a can of sorts and let it suck it up, like the directions say.
Then you shut it off for a few.
My GT ticked very bad , both valves and lifters, its been dead quiet ever since.

That way it all goes into the intake and cleans the carbon out, and cleans up the valves.

Will not clean the injector either of these ways though.
To clean the injectors it needs to go into the gas tank,
or into the shradder valve on the pass side fuel rail.

Can you Say "headers" 3 times realy fast

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Remember that you will need to get them installed too.
Not sure what something like that would cost you where you live, it is a pita ess[ecially when the exhaust bolts break

I know a guy who works on his evo and owns a shop, Id trust him to get the job done in about a day for a good price... main concern would be fitting the high flow cat with it as well and having it welded to the original pipe fitting I have going on.... it'll be a task indeed thinking it all thru now

Guessing I might be using the original bolts to put the new ones back on?

How much you think a stealership would charge for new bolts and fittings? if it came down to that?

Ill try to call SSHeaders in the next few days to see availability as well if they come with new gaskets

We got SNOW! YAY!!!! Totally random from me... but it was about an inch with ICE underneath.... Hmmm this sounds way to familiar to me.. oh yeah i hit a Pole in these conditions the last time! No pole this time... Almost a car though. DAMN HILLS, SLOPING DOWN! i down shifted ( gotta love sticktronic) stopped about 3 cars aways from the car in front of me and sat there until the light changed! SO NO ACCIDENTS FROM ME! everyolne else was pretty mad since i wouldn't move up. Oh well too bad!

Gir you got your W2 and your taxes all lined up already! DAMN! I still haven't gotten my w2 YET ! I want my income tax refund! Good luck with the headers though! Hopefully you won't have any problems that will divert your money before buying them!

Have a good day!

Later

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Hey Gir , I wouldnt buy the exhaust bolts from the stealershit. I'd buy them from NAPA or somewhere cheaper.

Ya grfnkl, we have been getting lake effect snow for 3-4 days now. Nothing to realy count though, just very little snow. Been realy windy and very cold.

Ok WTH is sticktronic ?
Or did you mean tiptronic, these are on Porsches ...

I don't know what it's called. I call it sticktronic... since it's like driving a "stick shift that's electronic". every brand calls it something different... whatever it is , I have some fun with it, except when i forget to change gears...

Hey XI, what's with that link with the space pics? Any particular meaning behind it?

Update: I got my W2 yesterday! Wohoo! Now i have to check to make sure it's correct!
