Toyota Camry owners.
Commenting on car handling and steering feel? They're a bit out of their league. Maybe feedback on tofu or a toothbrush...... |

Re: Another Example Of Why I Will NEVER Drive Electric Power Steering..
My 2013 Focus has electric power steering. After I bought it, I found that it had the same traits as those described in the Camry forum post. It took me several weeks to become accustomed to the difference.
And, that's just it - it's DIFFERENT! Neither good nor bad, just different. Like radial tires and front-wheel-drive, there's a change in the driving dynamics. Just because you started out with a hammer and a screwdriver doesn't mean that you can't learn to use a wrench... Sheesh! Dave B. |

Re: Another Example Of Why I Will NEVER Drive Electric Power Steering..
I drove a prius once and the electric power steering is just one of many things I hated about it. The steering feel was nonexistent, completely numb and disconnected. Call me crazy, but I like to know what the front wheels are doing based on what I feel through the steering wheel.

Not the best analogy. You can't - or at least shouldn't - use a wrench to drive a nail into the wall to mount a picture. Or a hammer to remove screws. To repeat: I will avoid driving a car with electric power steering for as long as possible - including rentals. There's lots of things one could mess around with on a car: the styling, the shape of the knobs/buttons on the dash, how many gears the transmission has, etc - but steering isn't one of them. |
